Che piaccia o meno, ogni anno ritorno a scrivere un articolo sulle nominations agli Emmy. Contestati e criticati, sempre e comunque, gli Emmy Awards restano un fantastico punto di riferimento che ci serve, ogni anno, per celebrare il meglio che la serialità ha da offrire e per avviare un bilancio dell'ultima annata, quella che i giurati dell'Emmy prendono in considerazione per votare le migliori serie ed i migliori attori in circolazione.
Oggi, come di consueto, vi riepilogherò tutte le nominations commentando, ad alto livello, le scelte che quest'anno son state fatte dagli addetti ai lavori selezionati per l'occasione.
Lasciatemi dire subito una cosa.
Se fra 10, 20, forse anche 100 anni, un mio pronipote o un alieno dovessero imbattersi in questo post e scorrere la lista dei candidati, troverebbero, di certo, un motivo per essere fieri dell'epoca che stiamo vivendo e per guardare, con ammirazione, di cosa è capace il genere umano.
In termini di titoli e di qualità delle produzioni, non ho paura ad affermare che questa possa essere la migliore annata di sempre, sia come densità che come picchi.
Il solo fatto che, a competere, con ogni probabilità, per la statuetta più ambita ci saranno Succession e Better Call Saul la dice lunga. La stagione finale di 2 delle serie migliori all time è stata, per entrambe, perfetta cosi come la loro conclusione. L'articolo più lungo che io abbia mai scritto è stato proprio su Saul Gone, series finale dello spinoff di Breaking Bad, mentre per salutare Succession ho pubblicato un articolo, che trovate qui, tra i più lunghi e sentiti della mia carriera da blogger. Vederli duellare sullo stesso red carpet rappresenta, per me uno scontro epico. Sarebbe come vedere di fronte Muhammed Ali vs Mike Tyson, Pelè vs Maradona, Federer vs Sampras, Michael Jordan vs Lebron James, Michael Schumacher vs Hamilton. Sarà una sfida da brividi dove mi auguro possa spuntarla, al fotofinish, Better Call Saul visto che la reputo, al pari di Breaking Bad, la migliore serie all time mentre Succession la reputo "solo" una delle migliori serie di tutti i tempi.
Pensare che, nella sola categoria drama, troviamo titoli come The Crown che rappresentano la storia della tv, rivelazioni come Andor e debutti pirotecnici come House of The Dragon e The Last of Us, vi da la percezione di quanto alto sia stato il livello degli ultimi 12 mesi.
Se sui drama abbiamo raggiunto la vetta dell'Everest a mani nude, non scherziamo se spostiamo lo sguardo sulle comedy dove mi vien il groppo in gola al pensiero di dover scegliere fra Ted Lasso e The Marvelous Mrs Maisel che, insieme ad un'altra serie che andrebbe premiata sempre, ovvero Barry, hanno salutato il pubblico con dei series finale che ricorderemo a vita. Il bello è che, nonostante io abbia nominato ben 3 serie tv meritevoli di vincere tutto, è probabile che a spuntarla, alla fine, sia The Bear, serie FX che ha convinto tutti e che meriterebbe, anch'essa, tutti i premi del mondo.
Non finisce qui perchè girovagando tra le nominations ritroviamo la categoria miniserie bella piena con Beef favoritissima sulle altre, con Dahmer pronto ad azzannare la preda e far suo il bottino. Molto contento per Daisy Jones & The Six.
Clamoroso il successo riscosso da The White Lotus. La seconda stagione, ambientata in Sicilia e con mezzo cast italiano, ha ottenuto, se non erro, 23 candidature, piazzandosi al secondo post dietro Succession.
Le 3 serie con le maggiori nominations sono quest'ultima, The White Lotus e The Last of Us. Sapete cos'hanno in comune oltre alla qualità indiscussa?

Nell'epoca delle piattaforme streaming la Home Boxe Office continua a fare la parte del leone, un leone che quest'anno ruggisce come non mai.
Venendo alle note stonate, e per chiudere, appare incomprensibile la nominations a Kenobi, serie surclassata dalle critiche. Yellowjackets è un prodotto, invece, che gode di tanti favori ma che, a mio modestissimo avviso, è indietro anni luce rispetto alle altre serie nominate e sarebbe anche abbastanza nelle retrovie rispetto ad altri show meno considerati come i pregevolissimi prodotti Paramount +, da The Offer a 1883, passando per 1923.
In generale, però, mi pare una delle edizioni meno contestabili degli ultimi anni. Di carne al fuoco ce ne è tanta ma nulla in paragona alla classifica LIVE più apprezzata a livello globale.
